Five Year Service Length

Prices below are for 5 year resource allocations, which match the expected industry-standard lifecycles for computational hardware. No IDC (Indirect Cost) charge are incurred. All services associated with provisioning the hardware are free to university faculty.

UF Research Computing has a number of different training programs for users to utilize in order to make the most efficient use of their resources. From training how to use the system to in-depth consultation hours to target specific programs and algorithms that users may need for their work, a service is available to handle the needs of our customers.

Service Description Rate
HiPerGator training Training sessions are offered on a regular basis with topics ranging from general access to HiPerGator to specific topics in biology, chemistry, engineering, etc. No cost
Restricted data training Research Computing offers courses that meet the extended training requirement of restricted data research. Multiple courses may need to be completed depending on the data restriction. No cost
Software consulting Research Computing staff provide consulting service to a research team to enhance software, provide training, or meet other software needs. The consulting fee covers RC staff time spent on the consulting service, but not the HiPerGator resource allocation. The Principle Investigator needs to purchase the allocation that is needed for the consulting project or service. $65/hour
Restricted data consulting Analysis and configuration of project workflows and applications for the restricted data environments, ResShield and HiPerGator-RV $65/hour

 

The purpose of PubApps is to provide the kind of 'long-tail' services and infrastructure that cannot be obtained or set up elsewhere or requires access to data/computational resources on HiPerGator and so on. It can give UF Research Computing customers a competitive edge for top-tier research and presentation of research, with such needs as: significant computational and database resources and/or application support, access to data on large parallel filesystems, or setting up services connected to data-producing hardware on premises at the University to feed into workflows running on HiPerGator.

HiPerGator Web Application Hosting a.k.a. 'PubApps' is not intended to be a generic web application hosting service. Use UFIT T4 CMS HostingUFIT Apache Hosting, or UFIT VM Hosting for document or web application and service hosting unrelated to HiPerGator or UF Research Computing.

If additional resources are required CPU/memory (NCU) and storage units can be purchased in the same manner as HPG resources are purchased. At this time only shared use of GPUs is supported in pubapps.

Certain external organizations may be eligible to purchase resources from UF Research Computing. Pricing for these purchases is separate from the subsidized rates paid by UF faculty members and research collaborators, and are delineated as follows:

  • Discounted external rates are applicable to purchases by UF-supported startup companies, such as those associated with UF Innovate.
  • Full external rates are applicable to purchases by a limited number of organizations that meet certain qualifications for purchasing through UFIT Research Computing.

External rates are determined by calculating the total cost recovery for providing the products and services, including amortization of equipment and infrastructure.
